ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 5. The ground transport of the Lebap region located in the east of Turkmenistan transported 60.6 million tons of cargo from January through July of this year, Trend reports.
During the period, compared with the same period last year, this indicator increased by 3.3 percent.
Furthermore, the volume of passenger traffic during this period reached 94.5 million people, compared to the corresponding period last year, the growth was 1.1 percent.
The Lebap region of Turkmenistan is actively working on the development of its transport infrastructure in order to improve mobility, economic growth and improve the quality of life of local residents.
Meanwhile, Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mammetkhan Chakiyev, said at a government meeting held at the end of August that the growth in the volume of work and services in the country's transport and communications complex for the first 7 months of 2023 is 23.9 percent.
