ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 24. Kazakhstan is completing a major overhaul of the road from the village of Kuryk to the village of Zhetybay with a total length of 64 kilometers in the Mangystau region, Trend reports.

The Kuryk-Zhetybay road leading to the seaport of Kuryk provides access to an important transport corridor for Kazakhstan - the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor).

Thus, after the facility is put into operation, the entire transit flow will be directly redirected to the port of Kuryk. If previously drivers had to stop in Aktau, now they can get to the sea harbor through the village of Zhetybay.

"The road needed reconstruction for almost half a century. We are almost completing major renovations. The road construction materials used are of domestic production. After the facility is put into operation, the time to reach the main TMTM corridor across the territory of our country will be reduced by another 2 hours," said Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev.

Major repairs will increase capacity and ensure safe road traffic.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.

The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.

The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
