ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 8. Kazakhstan's Kazmortransflot transported 25,500 twenty-foot equivalent containers along the Trans-Caspian route from January through July 2024, Trend reports, citing KazMunayGas (the Kazakh national oil and gas company).
Thus, the volume of container transportation increased by 2.4 times compared to the same period in 2023 (10,600 TEU containers).
There is also growth in other directions. During the same period, oil transportation through the Caspian Sea amounted to 1.3 million tons, which is 3.9 times more than in the same period last year (332,000 tons). Oil transportation along the Aktau-Baku route increased by 75 percent, from 246,000 tons to 431,000 tons.
In addition to this, the total volume of oil transportation in the open seas since the beginning of the year amounted to 6.7 million tons, which is 14 percent more than last year (5.9 million tons).
Furthermore, Kazakhstan produced 90 million tons of oil in 2023, which is 6.9 percent higher than in 2022. Oil exports also increased and amounted to 70.5 million tons, which is 9.6 percent more than the previous year.
Moreover, Kazakhstan plans to increase oil production in 2024 to 90.3 million tons.
