Improving industrial safety with UNECE's support
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is actively supporting Kyrgyzstan in improving its industrial safety.
Kyrgyzstan has benefited from the Project on supporting countries of Central Asia in strengthening the safety of mine tailings (since 2020) through participation in subregional meetings (e.g. Subregional meetings to enhance capacity for governance and policy-making on tailings safety in Central Asia).
Within the framework of the Project on "National Policy Dialogues for Industrial Safety in Central Asia (Phase I: Launch)", the review of national policies and legislation related to industrial safety has been carried out in five Central Asian countries, notably in Kyrgyzstan.
The current activities of this project aim to harmonize national policies and legislation in the field of industrial safety with the requirements of the UNECE Industrial Accidents Convention and policies in other related areas, including disaster risk reduction.
