DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 10. Tajikistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) held discussions on investment issues in the energy and other sectors, Trend reports.
The discussion took place between the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan, Fayziddin Kakhhorzoda, and the Vice President and Corporate Secretary of AIIB, Ludger Schuknecht.
The talks focused on attracting potential investments in Tajikistan's energy sector, as well as other key areas of the country's economy.
Meanwhile, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with President of the AIIB Jin Liqun in Beijing on May 17, 2023. During the meeting, Tajik president draw attention to the potential and resources that Tajikistan possesses for collaborating with the AIIB.
They discussed the implementation of projects related to the final processing of agricultural products, extraction of natural resources, and the financing of green infrastructure in sectors such as transportation, energy, housing and utilities, and urban management.
Moreover, it was revealed during that meeting that the AIIB intends to allocate a substantial fund of $500 million for the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in Tajikistan, which is one of the most significant renewable energy projects in the region.
