Turkmenistan notes a significant increase in sales on its commodity exchange

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 20. Turkmenistan noted an increase in sales last week on its State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange, the total amount of which amounted to over $77.6 million, Trend reports.

According to the exchange, this is 46 percent more than in the previous reporting period, during which the cost of raw materials sold amounted to $41.8 million.

Representatives of the business circles of the UAE, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia purchased hydrotreated diesel fuel, kerosene, petroleum bitumen, low-sulfur fuel oil, carbamide, and carbon black produced by the enterprises of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern.

At the same time, representatives of the business community of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, the UAE, and Kyrgyzstan last week purchased harsh and denim fabric, as well as cotton yarn.

For the domestic market, entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan purchased petroleum bitumen manufactured by the state concern Turkmennebit and handmade Turkmen carpets for a total amount of more than 5.6 million Turkmen manats ($1.6 million).

Last week's auctions of Turkmenistan's State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange yielded 33 transactions.

On July 29, 1994, Turkmenistan established the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange. It is the most important body of state regulation for export-import operations.
