TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 11. A total of 10,600 tourists from the US visited Uzbekistan from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, the most common reasons for tourists from the United States to visit Uzbekistan were leisure (8,446 people), business (1,089 people), visiting relatives (832 people), commerce (167 people), and other objectives (136 people).
Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan amounted to 2.8 million from January through May 2024, which is an increase of 9.6 percent, compared to the same period last year (2.5 million people in January-May 2023).
Out of all the countries, Tajikistan accounted for the largest number of tourists (871,500 people) who visited Uzbekistan during this period.
At the same time, the number of tourists from Uzbekistan travelling abroad amounted to 2.2 million from January through May 2024. This figure increased by 35.5 percent compared to the same period last year (1.6 million people in January-May 2023).
