Iran owns from 90 to 100 kg of 20-percent of enriched uranium, Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization Firudin Abbasi said, ISNA reported.

Abbasi added that the country has the possibility to increase productivity of enriching the uranium. Earlier, it was reported that Iran owns about 70 kg of 20-percent of enriched uranium.

Iran says it is enriching uranium only to make nuclear fuel. But because enrichment can also create fissile warhead material, the UN Security Council has imposed sanctions on Tehran in a failed attempt to force it to stop.

More recently, the U.S., the European Union and other Western allies have either tightened up their own sanctions or rapidly put new penalties in place striking at the heart of Iran's oil exports lifeline and its financial system.

Earlier, Abbasi said Iran will Iran completely substitute Tehran nuclear reactor core with new nuclear fuel rods. It is planned to put 19 more fuel rods into the reactor, with one already put there a week ago, when Iran announced its latest achievements in the nuclear sphere.

A week ago Iran has unveiled new achievements of its nuclear program, one of which was a successful placement of a domestically-produced nuclear rod into the Amirabad nuclear reactor.
