( dpa ) - Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern and his British counterpart Gordon Brown held talks Sunday at Manchester Airport, northern England, to discuss developing Northern Ireland's economy, among other issues.
"Two key issues will be the devolution of policing and justice powers to the democratic institutions in Northern Ireland and helping the development of the Northern economy," according to a statement from Ahern's office in Dublin.
Other topics on the agenda include bilateral relations, developments in the European Union and the global economic situation.
The meeting is the third since Brown became prime minister in June.
The two premiers were also expected to attend a ceremony at Old Trafford stadium to mark the 50th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster when eight players on the Manchester United soccer team were killed along with 15 others in a plane crash in Germany.
