A German member of a European Parliament trade delegation to India described chaos and fear among guests inside a Mumbai hotel, where terrorists are in a standoff with Indian security forces.
Erika Mann, a Social Democrat from Lower Saxony, told a German television programme by telephone that hundreds of guests in the posh hotel where she was staying had crowded into a single room, dpa reported. Only a few elderly people were able to sit in the room where they had all taken refuge, she said.
The huddled people had learned by mobile phone from their embassies and others outside that Indian security forces were besieging the building. But they had no security inside that room, she said.
