The 111th U.S. Congress was sworn in on U.S. Capitol Tuesday, amid the challenge of rehabilitating the country's struggling economy, Xinhua reported.
Nine new senators, 54 House members and two new non-voting delegates were among the members of the new Congress took seat on the Capitol Hill.
Besides the economy, the new Congress will face considerable early work in reviewing President-elect Barack Obama's cabinet nominees.
