Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 May /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The MPs who represent the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) considers the opposition's establishment of a Commission of MPs to investigate the accurate spending of funds allocated by the Public budget as illegal. "Establishment of an investigation commission by the opposition contradicts the Constitution, Internal Charter of the Parliament and Law on Status of MPs," NAP Deputy Executive Secretary, MP Mubariz Gurbanli, reported to Trend on 5 May.

Member of Musavat Group of MPs, MP Panah Huseyn, said that they will establish a Commission of MPs to inspect the accurate spending of the Public budget funds, corruption cases and appropriation of the funds. The Commission will begin functioning in the near future.

According to Gurbanli, the Constitution, Internal Charter of the Parliament and Law on Status of MPs denies the establishment of such commissions. "This suggestion, contradicting the law, envisages groundless activity. Therefore, the NAP and NAP MPs are protesting against it," he said.

In addition, Gurbanli said that the Accounting Chamber of Parliament, and the local and international audit organizations inspect the spending of the Public budget funds and inform the public of this.

According to Huseyn, the Commission is not planned to be established only from opposition MPs. "The funds allocated by the Public budget belong to people and there is nothing illegal in investigating the accurate spending of funds. The State organizations should themselves be interested in this," Huseyn said.
