UN expert to study equality between religious and ethnic minorities in Kazakhstan

UN independent expert on minority issues Gay McDougall will discuss discrimination and equality of ethnic and religious minority in Kazakhstan, UN official statement said. 

McDougall arrived in Astana on July 6 on the invitation of the Kazakh government. During the visit she will study legislative, administrative and practical actions taken by authorities to prevent discrimination and ensure equality between representatives of ethnic and religious minority. 

Meetings are scheduled to be held with representatives of authority, NGOs and leaders of minority. 

As a result of visit to Kazakhstan, independent expert on minority affairs will prepare report and deliver it for discussion of participants of session of UN human rights council.
