Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan boost green energy partnership

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 11. Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan intend to implement joint investment projects and expand practical cooperation in the field of green energy, Trend reports.

This became known during the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, during which Mirziyoyev met with the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman Al Saud.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed particular satisfaction with the fruitful partnership with the leading company, ACWA Power, which is actively involved in the modernization of Uzbekistan's energy sector through direct investments and advanced technologies.

Special attention was given to accelerating the implementation of projects for the construction of wind and solar power plants in various regions of Uzbekistan, as well as the production of green hydrogen.
An agreement was reached to attract Saudi companies and consultants to processes aimed at increasing localization and energy efficiency in the country’s enterprises.

Currently, the portfolio of joint projects between the two countries exceeds $30 billion. ACWA Power is the largest investor in the development of Uzbekistan’s energy sector. In May of this year, agreements were signed with ACWA Power to implement projects in green energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals totaling $18 billion.
