Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 May / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / Kazakhstan has agreed to export grain to Azerbaijani companies in the situation where been has been imposed on grain export from spring to autumn 2008.
" Azerbaijan raised this issue in the inter governmental commission on the economic cooperation in Astana," Sabir Valiyev, Chief of the Department on control over production and development of plant production and land use of the Agriculture Ministry
According to Valiyev, as per the agreement with the Kazakhstan government some 150,000 or 200,000 tons of grain on the basis of current and previously paid contract will be delivered to Azerbaijan.
Kazakhstan imposed a ban on grain export from spring to autumn to protect its own domestic market from increasing high grain prices in the world markets.
Azerbaijani companies-importers have signed contracts and placed advanced money with Kazakh companies, before Kazakhstan imposed a ban on grain export in April. However, the Azerbaijani companies, which paid a part of grain supply, faced a lot of problems.
"At present, there is no grain deficit in Azerbaijan. The first results of the monitoring to reveal grain reserve in the country revealed no deficit for grain products," a representative from Agriculture Ministry said.
The approximately grain reserve in Azerbaijan is about 410,000 tons
In 2008, the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan forecasts grain production at 2.3 or 2.4mln tons, with demand of 3mln.
