The Iran Power Development Company plans to increase renewable electric energy up to 500 megawatt with aid of private sector, including 250 Mega Watt wind electricity production, ISNA reported quoting Managing director of Iran Power Development Company Majid Salehi.
"The wind power plant will hold 250 megawatt capacity - 2.5 megawatt per unit," Salehi said. "All hundred units would be built by private sector."
According to Iran's Five Development Plan (2010-2015), the renewable electric energy should take 1.5 percent of total energy production in country.
Iran's current domestic electricity demand is 35-39 megawatt a day. Iran has commissioned plants with the capacity of 55,000 megawatt and exports 800 megawatt of electricity a year to neighboring countries.
