TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.16
Trend:
An Iraqi delegation is on its way to Tehran to discuss the debt payment for Iran's power export and review the issues concerning Iran's gas export, said the Head of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce Yahya Al Eshaq, Trend reports citing ILNA.
National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has decreased natural gas exports to Iraq to 38 million cubic meters per day.
"Iraqis are concerned about the decline of Iran's gas export as Iran's domestic consumption in winter has increased," he said.
Yahya Al Eshaq said the Iraqis believe the decline in gas supply is due to their delayed payments, so the Iraqi delegation is coming to Iran to solve the matter.
The official noted that Iraq has also negotiated with Qatar to buy gas, but gas supply is rather complex, besides, Iran isn't looking to lose the Iraqi market.
