BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 28. Turkmenistan imported machinery and transport equipment from EU countries totaling more than 82.6 million euros from January through March this year, a source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.
According to the data, the largest volume of Turkmen imports of machinery and transport equipment from EU countries in the first quarter of this year fell in March, amounting to more than 32.1 million euros, which is almost 45 percent more than the lowest figure in January, amounting to almost 22.2 million euros.
Turkmenistan's import of machinery and transport equipment from EU countries has been gradually increasing since the beginning of the year, as evidenced by interim data for February, which amounted to 28.2 million euros.
In general, in the first quarter of this year, Turkmenistan's total imports from EU countries increased by 6 percent compared to the period from January through March last year (130.4 million euros), reaching a total of 138.3 million euros.
Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU member states in the first quarter of this year exceeded 263.1 million euros, which is 26 percent more compared to the same period in 2023 (208 million euros).
The total amount of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU countries from the beginning of 2018 to the end of 2023 amounted to more than 6.55 billion euros.
