ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 15. The volume of cargo transportation by rail through the Altynkol station on the border of Kazakhstan and China amounted to 7.7 million tons from January through July 2024, Trend reports.
According to the Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ, national company), the volume of cargo transportation increased by 8 percent year-on-year.
At the same time, particularly high dynamics are demonstrated by the transit of goods from China. Thus, transit of goods from China increased by 15 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 3.1 million tons.
Meanwhile, the volume of railway transportation between Kazakhstan and China amounted to 12.8 million tons from January through May 2024. This figure has increased by 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
At the same time, the exports from Kazakhstan reached 8 million tons, which is more than 17 percent year-on-year. Kazakhstan imported 4.8 million tons of cargo by rail; this figure has increased by 6 percent compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $6.27 billion from January through March 2024. This volume increased by 6.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($5.9 billion).
At the same time, exports to China for the above period amounted to $3.18 billion, while imports from China amounted to $3.09 billion.
