BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided Trend with details about its current projects in Kyrgyzstan in the infrastructure and business sectors.
In the infrastructure sector, JICA is managing a grant aid project to enhance equipment for road maintenance and pavement in the Batken region, with a budget of approximately $4.4 million. This project is scheduled to continue until 2025.
Additionally, JICA is running long-term training programs in Japan for Kyrgyz specialists, focusing on core human resource development for road asset management and human resources development in the mining sector.
In the business sector, JICA is implementing the following projects:
- A technical cooperation initiative aims to advance local businesses in Central Asia through the "One Village, One Product" movement, with efforts to disseminate the Kyrgyz model to other Central Asian countries. This project, running from 2023 to 2028, has an estimated budget of $2.4 million;
- Another long-term training program in Japan is focused on investment promotion and industrial development in the Asian region.
These initiatives reflect JICA's commitment to supporting Kyrgyzstan’s infrastructure, human resource development, and economic growth.
