DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 28. In 2024, Tajikistan constructed and renovated 155 kilometers of roads, 20 bridges, and 3 tunnels, with a total investment of 4.6 billion somoni ($420 million), President Emomali Rahmon said in his address to the country’s parliament, Trend reports.
Among the key projects, Rahmon highlighted the construction of the Rogun-Obigarm-Nurobod road, totaling 76 kilometers at a cost of 3.5 billion somoni ($319.9 million), and the Bokhtar-Levakant-Lolazor-Dangara road, spanning 69 kilometers and costing 800 million somoni ($73 million).
Furthermore, Rahmon shared that in 2024, the ball got rolling on the reconstruction of two significant roads: the Dangara-Guliston road, stretching a good 50 kilometers, and the Guliston-Farkhor road, which spans 33 kilometers.
The President also noted that over the past five years, according to the World Economic Forum's assessment, Tajikistan’s position in the global road quality ranking improved from 50th to 44th place among 165 countries included in the survey, marking a six-position rise compared to previous years.
Rahmon underscored that the metamorphosis of Tajikistan into a pivotal transit nexus and the optimization of its transit capabilities have been delineated as primary objectives for the nation's advancement.
