BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 8. The volume of cargo transported through Iran's airports increased by 10 percent during six months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (March 21 through September 22, 2023).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's airport company shows that about 177,000 tons of cargo were transported via Iranian airports during the mentioned period.
However, the statistics indicate that during the same period last year, the volume of cargo transported through Iranian airports stood at 160,000 tons.

Meanwhile, about 321,000 tons of cargo were transported via Iranian airports during the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023). Cargo traffic increased by 19 percent compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).
To note, a total of 54 active civilian airports are operating in Iran. Of these, 14 are international airports. Iranian airports carry an average of 30 million passengers annually.
