Two Palestinians killed in latest Israeli raids on Gaza Strip

Arab World Materials 8 April 2011 13:12 (UTC +04:00)

Israeli air raids killed two Palestinians on Friday, Hamas officials said, a day after Gaza militants fired an anti-tank shell at an Israeli school bus, seriously wounding a teenager, DPA reported.

Both fatalities were Hamas militants, as were two other Palestinians wounded in the Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Israeli aircraft also struck at Rafah, on the border between the Gaza Strip and the Sinai peninsula, the officials said.

An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed the raids.

The latest Israeli attacks follow those launched mid-afternoon Thursday, after the hit on the bus, which was travelling about four kilometres from the Gaza border.

Gaza militias announced late Thursday night that they were instituting a ceasefire against Israel after five Palestinians, including one civilian, were killed and about 30 injured in the Israeli attacks.
