At least 13 people died and dozens were wounded in a series of explosions across Baghdad on Sunday, security sources said.

A car bomb targeting a US army patrol went off in northern Baghdad's Taji district. A suicide bombing followed shortly after police arrived in the area, killing seven policemen and wounding 10, DPA reported.

In west Baghdad's al-Amil district, two people died and 15 were wounded following four explosions near the federal police headquarters, followed by a car bomb blast in the same place, the source told the Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Another car bomb went off in east Baghdad's Mustansiriya University, targeting a high-ranking officer in the Interior Ministry. The explosion killed one person and wounded five. But the officer was not injured in the attack.
