Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 May /corr. Trend I.Alizade / Today the Parliament of Azerbaijan will begin discussions on amendments to the Electoral Code and Law on Freedom of Assembly, a source at Press Service of the Parliament reported to Trend on 29 May.
The projects of annexes and amendments to the Electoral Code and Law on Freedom of Assembly have been devised by the Government of Azerbaijan, and the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe gave references regarding the law drafts.
The project on amendments to the Electoral Code imposes a ban for the candidates for presidency to hold unpaid agitation on State-financed televisions, radios and newspapers.
According to the project on amendments to the Electoral Code, establishing polling stations in the military units will be liquidated. If the military unit is located near the polling station, the military people will vote there. Polling stations will be established in the military units being located far.
The previous Electoral Code says that the military people should vote only in the military units. Due to the military secret, the number of the military people was not disclosed. International organizations and opposition of Azerbaijan requires changing procedures for voting of the military people.
The names of the military voters will be included in the voting list of the civil people. For instance, polling stations will not be established in the military units being located in Baku. Polling stations will be provided in the military units on the front line.
According to other change, the observers being registered will have an opportunity to observe elections in the military units.
The annexes and changes to the Law on Freedom of Assembly impose a ban to hold demonstrations in front of city executive powers.
