Azerbaijan, Baku, April 8 /Trend, A.Huseynbala /

The parties, which joined the bloc established by the Azerbaijani opposition, hold discussions regarding the parliamentary elections.

"After discussions at the parties, the form of our participation in parliamentary elections will be determined in the end of the month," chairman of Tereggi Party, represented in the bloc Progressive Alliance of Azerbaijan, Chingiz Damiroglu, told Trend on April 9.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn 2010. Formerly, elections were held in November 2005. In Azerbaijan, parliamentary elections are held upon the majority system in 125 constituencies.

According to Damiroglu, the parties represented in the bloc have not determined the participation in parliamentary elections: "We had decided to support the candidate of the ruling party in presidential elections held in 2008. But the ruling party is cool to our position," said the head of the party.

According to him, without the support of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, in current circumstances it is difficult to achieve successes in the elections. "The ruling party will nominate candidates in almost all constituencies during the parliamentary elections. In this case, the chances of success of our candidates are falling. Given all these, we still take a waiting position," said Damiroglu.

According to chairman of the party, despite that the issue of participation in elections in on the agenda, a large number of candidates is not expected. "In any case, we have to await the results of the ongoing discussions within the parties. We will make a decision based on the discussions," he said.

The bloc Progressive Alliance of Azerbaijan brings together 21 opposition parties. The Alliance is a framework of cooperation of these parties.

Ten of the parties represented in the bloc have passed the state registration.

For more than 10 years, the Tereggi Party acted as a radical opposition party. In summer 2008, it decided to take a loyal opposition and support presidential candidate Ilham Aliyev.
