The British Council launches face-to-face English courses in Baku for kids and teenagers

The British Council is launching face-to-face English courses for kids and teens in Baku starting in October 2024. These courses, Primary Plus for ages 6-10 and Secondary Plus for ages 11-17, are designed to enhance creativity, develop life skills, and build confidence in English through engaging and interactive lessons led by expert teachers.

The British Council, the UK's organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, is launching face-to-face English courses for children and teenagers at the European Azerbaijan School in Baku. Starting this October, these courses will offer engaging and interactive English learning experiences for young learners.

Partnering with the European Azerbaijan School, a private institution authorised by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the British Council will offer Primary Plus (6-10 years) and Secondary Plus (11-17 years) English courses. These courses aim to develop students' English language skills, creativity, and life skills essential for the global world.

Interactive English classes for kids

Primary Plus courses are designed to spark children's imaginations through engaging lessons led by expert teachers. The course offers a rewarding learning experience that combines personalised attention, lively group classes, and interactive activities on an easy-to-use online learning hub. Young learners will develop leadership, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills in a relaxed and supportive classroom environment, preparing them to become confident and skilled English speakers.

Building English skills for success for teens

The Secondary Plus course helps teenagers develop the skills needed to communicate confidently in English. These courses encourage teens to become assertive, independent, and culturally aware global citizens. Students will express their opinions, gain confidence in speaking English, tackle practical and challenging tasks, and collaborate on team projects. Expert teachers will guide students using modern learning methods, preparing them to use English effectively in real-world situations, university, and the workplace.

Francesco Banchini, CEO and Director of the European Azerbaijan School states: “The partnership between European Azerbaijan School and the British Council will open doors to global opportunities, enriching cultural understanding, and fostering personal and professional growth. Together, we empower learners to connect with the world in new, meaningful ways.

Christopher Holmes, Cluster Director for Teaching British Council, Black Sea and Wider Europe expresses his enthusiasm: "I am incredibly excited about opening up access to our British Council English language courses in Baku once more. To be entering into this venture with European Azerbaijan School, an incredibly supportive and professional partner who shares our values and that offers world-class facilities only adds to the excitement."

Nargiz Hajiyeva, Country Director British Council: “I am thrilled to witness the Teaching Centre opening in partnership with EAS after almost a decade break of working with young learners in Azerbaijan. The inauguration of this teacher centre for young learners represents a vital investment into children’s future.”

The academic year for both Primary Plus and Secondary Plus courses starts on 10 October 2024 and ends on 28 June 2025. For more information and to register, please visit https://www.britishcouncil.az/en/english/children
