ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 29. Stadler Kazakhstan is set to begin production of passenger cars in the country, said Kazakhstan's Industry Minister Kanat Sharlapaev during a government meeting, Trend reports.
The new facility is expected to produce up to 100 passenger cars annually starting in 2025. The initiative aims to modernize the car fleet, which currently suffers from a depreciation rate of 55 percent.
Additionally, the Semipalatinsk Machine-Building Plant plans to establish production for up to 600 hopper cars each year. By the end of 2024, Kazakhstan aims to increase freight car production fourfold to 2,000 units annually, along with boosting passenger car output to 122 units and locomotives to 130 units.
Today's government meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, focused on advancing the machine engineering sector in Kazakhstan.
