ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 30. Kazakhstan is reducing the export customs duty (ECD) on crude oil and light oil products starting from December 1, 2024, Trend reports.

From December 1, 2024, the export customs duty on crude oil and light oil products in Kazakhstan will be reduced to $74 per ton. This is $2 per ton, or 2.6 percent lower than the duty set in November 2024, which was $76 per ton. Kazakhstan is transitioning its tax services to a digital format with the help of a new tax code.

The duty rate is determined by the average price of the KEBCO (Kazakh Export Blend Crude Oil) export grade.

To note, the export duty, unlike other oil and gas revenues in Kazakhstan, does not go into the National Fund but is directed straight to the national budget. In October, the duty rate was $77 per ton.
