BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. A total of $8.51 million worth of goods, weighing 14,600 tons, were exported through Iran’s Julfa customs, located in the country’s northwest, within East Azerbaijan Province, in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025), the director general of Julfa Customs, Ali Bisalam, told local media, Trend reports.
He stated that during the first month, the exports included primarily petroleum products, construction materials, ceramics, rubber products, and other goods.
Bisalam also mentioned that the products were exported to nine countries, including Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Russia, and Georgia.
Furthermore, the customs official noted that in the same period, goods worth $21.9 million and weighing 10,000 tons were imported through Julfa customs. The imported goods were mainly raw materials, industrial products, and others.
"In the first month, a total of 46,800 tons of goods entered the country through Julfa customs for transit purposes, while 75,300 tons of products left the country in transit," he added.
To note, during the previous Iranian year (March 20, 2024, to March 20, 2025), Julfa customs handled exports worth $241 million and about 388,000 tons of goods. The value of exports via Julfa customs increased by 23.6 percent, while the weight rose by 16.7 percent compared to the previous year.
