ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 19. The project manager of Kazakh Invest, Azizkhan Kudabekov, visited the production site of Stadler Kazakhstan in Astana as part of the implementation of priority investment initiatives in the machine-building sector, Trend reports.
The purpose of the visit was to review the current progress of the investment project and to discuss further plans for expanding the localization of Swiss production in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"During the visit, representatives of Kazakh Invest were introduced to the full technological cycle of production: from welding and painting steel bodies to the installation of pneumatic and electrical components. All work is carried out at the production site in Astana. In addition to manufacturing wagons and bogies, the plant is equipped with sandblasting lines, painting chambers, assembly workshops, and electrical installation areas," said the Kazakh Invest statement.
Moreover, the parties discussed the prospects for increasing production volumes and localization, including plans to transfer certain assembly and production stages from Europe to Kazakhstan.
According to the contract with JSC Passenger Transportation, Stadler Kazakhstan is manufacturing 557 passenger cars. The range includes compartment and sleeper cars, specialized cars for people with disabilities, and generator cars. Deliveries of the first batch of domestic cars, produced in Astana using Stadler technologies, are scheduled for 2025.
The project provides for the full technical maintenance of the rolling stock for 20 years, which will enhance the reliability and efficiency of railway transport operations. The delivery period is until 2030, with the possibility of further expanding the project and modernizing the national carrier's fleet.
The Stadler plant construction project is one of the key initiatives for forming a high-tech machine engineering cluster in Kazakhstan. Investments in the project have exceeded $57 million, and 600 jobs have already been created at the enterprise.
