Sewerage, Water Systems to be Renewed in Nakhchivan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 June / Trend corr E. Mammadov/ "Sewerage and water systems will be completely renewed in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan (NAR)," Askar Askarov, Director of the NAR State Agency for Melioration and Water Industry, stated in the presentation ceremony of the project on renewal of sewerage system in the NAR.

According to Askarov, the pipes will be renewed because the old ones are now completely out of shape now.

The World Bank and Asian Development Bank have allotted funds for the reconstruction of water and sewerage systems in Azerbaijan, with $2.4mln being allotted for the NAR.

After implementation of the project, sewerage network will cover 62km and water network- 67km in the NAR. A total of 18,000cu m water per day will be allocated for the agricultural purpose.

Moreover, 2 water warehouses are planned to be constructed in Nakhchivan and two old ones will be reconstructed.

All projects are planned to be completed by 2010.
