Some $1.4 billion invested in Avaza

Roughly $1.4 billion have been invested in the the Avaza national tourist zone on the Caspian sea since 2007, local media reported on Monday.

New development projects carried out in the national tourist zone Avaza were presented with the participation of President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, the Neytralniy Turkmenistan reported.

Many foreign partners and companies continue to submit proposals for investing in the infrastructure of the new resort.

To date, eight comfortable hotels with a capacity of receiving 1,700 people and two recreation center for children and adults on 880 seats each were opened on the Avaza resort.

There were put into operation gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 254 MW with a set of sub-stations, installation of seawater desalination, international airport with the ability to service 800 people per hour, park that includes a set of interactive marine and waterfront fountains and landscaped roads.

The tourism industry plays a special role in the country's strategic plans. The Avaza resort can be an example for this. Tax and customs privileges are granted to investors, firms, and companies.

Turkmenistan has announced a series of international tenders for constructing facilities and structures designed for tourism, sports, recreation, health, and other public purposes.
