Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The first bird flu monitoring will commence in Azerbaijan on 24 September, Yolchu Khanvali, the Press Secretary of the State Veterinary Service at the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry, said.
The monitoring will be terminated on 28 September. Initially there are plans to hold monitoring at the beginning of November, but due to the outbreak of bird flu in the Russian Federation, the Veterinary Service made the decision to hold monitoring as soon as possible.
The special commission will be carrying out the monitoring, including specialists of the Veterinary Service, the Azerbaijani Ecology and Health Ministries and the Azerbaijani Hunters Union. Monitoring will be held in the Absheron Peninsula, Davachi, Salyan, Agjabadi and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan.
The State Veterinary Service held 8 monitoring sessions from the beginning of the year. A total of 8,210 samples of wild animals were examined and no infections were traced.
