Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 June / Trend / State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) commenced installing a new platform on offshore field of Darvin Banki ('Bank of Darwin'), SOCAR stated. The platform will be placed in water depth of 16m and will be comprised of nine blocks with weight of 125 tons per each. The new platform being installed by AZFEN JV will drill 12 wells.
Darvin Banki which was put into use in 1950 is located in 6km from Pirallahi Island. The remaining oil reserves on the field are estimated at 2.6mln tons of oil and 0.5bln cu.m of gas. The field is developed by Absheronneft Oil and Gas Production Unit.
This year the Unit plans to put a new platform into use on the field of West Absheron. The platform has five blocks, with three being built by Oil and Gas Construction Trust and two by Baku Deep Water Jacket Plant named after Heydar Aliyev. The platform will be placed in water depth of 16m.
In the near future, the blocks will be brought and installed in the sea. Here Khazar-4 rig already drilled four wells and positive results were obtained.
