BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 13. Kyrgyzstan exported 23.7 tons of silver worth $18.9 million from January through October 2024, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, during the same period last year, the country exported only 724 kg of silver valued at $794,000. Thus, in the first 10 months of 2024, the volume increased 32-fold and the value 23-fold year-on-year.
India was the largest buyer, purchasing 21.7 tons of silver for $17.13 million. Switzerland bought 1.4 tons for $1.35 million, while Hong Kong, China, imported 587 kg valued at $451,900.
Meanwhile, China was the only buyer of Kyrgyzstan's silver in the first 10 months of 2023.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $13.4 billion from January through October 2024, which is a 6.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Exports rose by 25.2 percent year on year to $3.123 billion, while imports increased by 1.8 percent to $10.310 billion.
