DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 25. Tajikistan exported 131,600 tons of agricultural products in the first half of 2024, which is a decrease of 12,100 tons, or 8.4 percent, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, the value of these exports totaled $124.4 million, which is an increase of $25.5 million, or 25.8 percent, compared to the first half of 2023.
The export includes 23,500 tons of vegetables (17.8 percent of total exports), with onions making up 22,000 tons (16.7 percent). Fruits accounted for 10,300 tons (7.8 percent), including 550 tons of grapes (0.4 percent). Dried fruits comprised 38,200 tons (29 percent), legumes 120 tons (0.1 percent), melons 424 tons (0.3 percent), incubator eggs 1,700 tons (1.3 percent), and oilseeds and medicinal plants 2,500 tons (1.9 percent).
Additionally, 54,500 tons of cotton fiber were exported for $95.5 million. The figure increased by $20.5 million in value and 13,600 tons in volume compared to the same period last year.
In total, Tajikistan's agricultural production reached 21.472 billion somoni ($2 billion) in the first half of 2024.
