Tajikistan reveals cereal and cotton harvest figures

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 9. In Tajikistan, cereal crops have been sown on an area of 306,966 hectares as of October 4, Trend reports.

According to the nation's Ministry of Agriculture, 297,810 hectares have been harvested, and 284,082 hectares have been threshed, resulting in a total yield of 873,275 tons, with an average yield of 30.7 quintals per hectare.

Wheat has been sown on 207,620 hectares, with the same area harvested and 207,431 hectares threshed.

Meanwhile, cotton has been planted on 174,979 hectares, with 436,280 tons collected, yielding 9.6 quintals per hectare.

In 2023, the total agricultural output in Tajikistan reached 63.028 billion somoni (approximately $5.9 billion). This includes 43.36 billion somoni ($4.081 billion) from crop production and 19.662 billion somoni ($1.8 billion) from livestock production.

Public enterprises contributed 9.8 percent of the total agricultural output, while dehkan (household) farms accounted for 41.1 percent, and private households made up 49.1 percent.
