The presidential elections in Turkmenistan have become a landmark in the country's development and have demonstrated the unity and solidarity of the people, local media reported on Thursday quoting CEC head Orazmurad Nyyazlyev.
Niyazlyev congratulated Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov on his reelection.
According to final data released by the CEC, 96.70 percent of voters participated in the election.
The CEC declared that Berdymuhamedov, who received an absolute majority of the votes, is recognized as the elected president of Turkmenistan.
A total of 2,345 domestic observers and observers from the OSCE, UN and various other NGOs and missions followed the election on the ground.
