BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8. In the Sirjan district of Kerman province in southern Iran, regeneration facility No. 2 of Sirjan Jahan Steel Company was put into service on February 8, Trend reports via Iran's President information portal.
The event was organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the regeneration plant. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other officials attended the event.
A sum of 65 trillion rials (about $114 million) was spent on the construction and commissioning of this plant.
This plant was built to boost the country's steel production and domestic supply of sponge iron. The plant can produce 1.05 million tons of steel and sponge iron annually.
To note, during his visit to the Sirjan district of Kerman Province, the President of Iran took part in the opening of two mining enterprises, one tourist facility, and one gas pipeline. A whopping 200 trillion rials (about $350 million) have been spent on the construction and commissioning of the facilities.
