Democratic frontrunner Barack Obama has
received the endorsement of John Edwards, the former presidential candidate
whose support was much sought after by Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Edwards will announce his backing of Obama at campaign rally later Wednesday in
Grand Rapids, Michigan, according to US media reports.
Edwards dropped out of the race on January 30 after a series of disappointing
finishes in state-by-state voting in the early fight for the nomination.
His endorsement came one day after Clinton handily defeated Obama in West Virgina's presidential primary Tuesday by a 40 percentage- point margin. Clinton,
however, still trails Obama in the race and faces a steep challenge in trying
to overcome his narrow but decisive lead in the delegate count, dpa reported.
