A gas leak resulted in an explosion at the Central Election Commission (CEC) office at 24 Nizami Abdullayev St. in the Keshla settlement of the Nizami region at 11:30, the CEC told Trend on Jan. 8.
Fifty-nine-year-old chairman of the local CEC office Aydin Valiyev was injured in the blast. He was rushed to Clinical Hospital No. Five with third-degree burns. Neighboring areas were also damaged in the explosion, Police Office No. Twenty-Three told Trend .
The General Prosecutor's Office has sent a statement to Azerigaz CJSC recently to take urgent safety measures due to the frequent gas explosions as of late.
