Uzbek president awarded International Judo Federation's special prize

Uzbek President Islam Karimov was awarded a special prize for his huge contribution to strengthening international relations, promotion and development of judo at the Congress of the International Judo Federation, held in Paris on Aug. 21, Judo Federation of Uzbekistan told Trend on Wednesday.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov was awarded a special prize for his huge contribution to strengthening international relations, promotion and development of judo at the Congress of the International Judo Federation, held in Paris on Aug.21, Judo Federation of Uzbekistan told Trend on Wednesday.

Sheikh Mohammad bin Taalub (UAE), Sheikh Khalifa al-Sabah (Kuwait), Jung Hwan Kim (Korea), Takao Kawaguchi (Japan), Jagdish Tytler (India), Wei-Chen Lu (Chinese Taybey ) Beket Mahmudov (Kazakhstan) were also awarded the International Judo Federation's special prize.

Uzbek athlete Rishod Sobirov has been named the best acting judoka of our time and Uzbek Andrey Shturbabin - the best coach.

Rishod Sobirov won the gold at the 28th World Judo Championships in Paris, becoming two-times world champion.
