ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, January 31. Residents of the village of Gum in the Baragyz district of Turkmenistan’s Danew region received a significant New Year’s gift—natural gas supply to their homes, Trend reports.
"Our district consists of four villages with a growing population of about 3,300 residents, thanks to government support for young families and new housing developments. In Gum, new streets and homes have been built, and by the end of last year, the issue of gas supply for new residents was successfully resolved. On behalf of all district residents, we express our sincere gratitude to our esteemed president for his ongoing commitment to public welfare," said Akhmet Mametkulyev, head of the Baragyz district of Turkmenistan.
Improving living standards across urban and rural areas remains a key priority in Turkmenistan’s national development programs. The gasification of northern regions is part of a broader effort to enhance quality of life and support economic growth. Substantial government investments are ensuring the successful expansion of gas infrastructure to new settlements.
As part of the National Program for the Transformation of Rural Areas, aimed at modernizing even the most remote communities, a low-pressure gas pipeline was built in Gum, extending more than three kilometers and supplying natural gas to over 40 households. The project was carried out by specialists from the Lebap branch of the Construction and Installation Directorate for Gasification under the "Türkmengazükpüşçilik" association.
"Our branch services nearly 8,950 private households, and we work diligently to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply. We continuously monitor the gas distribution system, devices, and regulator stations. As more households gain access to gas each year, our responsibilities expand, and we take great pride in our work," said Bahram Charyev, head of the "Independence" branch of the Dänewetrapgaz gas management organization.
Gas workers play a crucial role year-round, especially in winter when consumption rises significantly, putting extra demand on the gas transport system. To prevent disruptions, specialists work tirelessly to maintain a steady supply of "blue fuel" to residents.
Particular recognition is given to gas service workers, including Aman Toylyev, inspector Malika Hemraeva, welder Arifjan Omarov, and emergency dispatcher Babamyrat Khamrakuliev. These professionals conduct regular household inspections, ensure the safe operation of gas appliances, and educate residents on the efficient use of natural gas.
