ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 4. In 2024, Kazakhstan's toll road revenue reached 48 billion tenge ($91.2 million), and with 4,000 additional kilometers of toll roads planned for this year, revenue is expected to rise to 60 billion tenge ($114 million), said Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev at a government meeting, Trend reports.

"Additionally, there is consideration of using part of the funds from toll roads to pay off interest rates on loans taken for construction work," the minister noted.

In order to reduce the burden on the budget and ensure self-sufficiency on sections where reconstruction and repair work has been completed, the phased implementation of toll road status continues. Currently, the country has a toll road system spanning 3,200 kilometers.

The minister also mentioned the development of service facilities along roads. There are currently 1,446 service facilities in the country, 90 percent of which meet national standards. In 2025, the goal is to increase this figure to 100 percent and attract major investors to build more than 400 modern service facilities.

"By 2029, 60 integrated facilities are planned to be built, with 10 units to be realized this year. The investment volume will amount to 120 billion tenge (around $228 million). These facilities will include rest areas, parking for TIR vehicles, and gas stations. Based on the development of service facilities along roads, the country will form its first national hotel network and franchise. This will not only influence the development of the transportation process but also contribute to the growth of auto tourism," noted Marat Karabayev.

Additionally, by next year, Kazakhstan will increase revenue from toll roads to 100 billion tenge (around $190 million).
