TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 19. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree appointing Aziz Abdukhakimov as Presidential Adviser on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the newly established National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, Trend reports via the press service of the Uzbek president.
In connection with this appointment, he has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
The decree forms part of the implementation of a broader presidential order aimed at creating a management system for promptly responding to public demands in the fields of ecology and tourism.
Under this reform, the National Committee is being established on the basis of the Ministry of Ecology. The new body will be responsible for implementing unified environmental policy, expanding green areas, and addressing the impacts of climate change and desertification.
