BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. Georgian ports and terminals received 4,461 ships in the third quarter of 2025, up in some segments but with a decline in container vessel traffic, the country’s statistics service said, Trend reports.
General cargo ships accounted for 48.9% of calls, tankers 26.9%, container ships 13.4%, and the remaining 10.8% were bulk carriers and specialized vessels. Compared with the same period in 2024, general cargo calls rose 54.6%, specialized vessels increased 30%, while container ships fell 39.4% and tankers decreased 7%.
The report showed 17.9% of ships were registered under the Panamanian flag, 14.6% Turkish, 10.8% Maltese, 7.2% Liberian, with the rest distributed among other countries.
Passenger traffic grew sharply, with Georgian ports serving 4,200 passengers in Q3, more than double the previous year. Incoming passengers slightly outnumbered departures, accounting for 50.4% of total passenger flows.
Total cargo throughput reached 4.29 million tons, up 1.4% from a year earlier. General cargo accounted for 43.7% of the volume, liquid bulk 34.5%, and dry bulk 21.8%.
