In September, Uzbek automobile centers will sell the updated Chevrolet Captiva car produced by JV "GM Uzbekistan," presented on Tuesday at the Tashkent branch of the Polytechnic University of Turin.
The updated model differs in its improved design and high level of equipment, new engine, and new gearbox. Changes made to the front end of the car include a new headlight unit, a modified bumper, and integrated fog lights.
The Captiva internal design turns the car from a 7-seater to a transport cargo car.
The packaging also includes parking sensors, a CD/MP3-player, a Bluetooth system, touch screen navigation, and a climate control console on the steering wheel. The passive safety systems include six safety bags, which will ensure complete safety for the driver and passengers.
If the previous Captiva model was equipped with a five-speed automatic gearbox and engine, with a volume of 3.2 liters and 230 horsepower capacity, the updated model has a six-speed automatic gearbox, a 3-liter engine and 258 horsepower capacity.
The joint venture manufacturing GM Uzbekistan cars, established at the UzDaewoo automobile plant with $266.7 million in charter capital, has been in operation since 2007. General Motors owns 25 percent shares, plus one share in the new venture. It can increase its share up to 40 percent. Currently, Uzavtosanoat holds 75 percent in shares in GM Uzbekistan.
JV "GM Uzbekistan" currently produces seven car models - Nexia, Lacetti, Epica, Damas micro bus, Matiz and Spark mini-cars, and an off-road Captiva.
In 2010 GM Uzbekistan increased production by 6.2 percent compared to 2009. Production has reached 217,733 cars.
