Iranian government plans to construct a second track at Tehran-Qazvin railway, said the deputy head of Planning and Budget Organization.
"The construction of the second track at Tehran-Qazvin railway route is one of our priorities and shall be completed by the end of current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019)," said Hamid Reza Adle, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
The official has also spoke about plans to create four tracks for Tehran-Varamin- Pishva railway route.
In his words, the construction of second track in Tehran–Qazvin–Zanjan railway has started with $157 million credit, and works on the project have been completed by 53 percent.
Tehran-Qazvin railway is connected to the Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway that will eventually connect to the International North South Transportation Corridor (INSTC).
