Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava met with Malaysian parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof to discuss issues of strengthening economic ties between Georgia and Malaysia, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
As reported, the Malaysian side expressed interest in deeper cooperation with Georgia in fields such as tourism, trade, logistics, transport, business and education.
Turnava told that six percent of Georgian gross domestic product will be spent on education from 2022 as education is a high priority for the country.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in vocational education and agreed tofacilitate implementation of exchange programs between universities of the countries to implement exchange programs.
The Malaysian side noted the effectiveness of the free trade agreements Georgia has with the European Union, China, and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The parties agreed to hold joint business forums and arrange business delegations' visits of the countries.
The countries established diplomatic relations on May 7, 1993. Georgia has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is represented in Georgia through its embassy in Kiev (Ukraine).
